David Roberts serves as the Chief of Staff and Director of Government Affairs for the Mississippi State Medical Association, where he is responsible for managing a comprehensive program that advances the legislative agenda of MSMA and engages executive and legislative branch officials.  He also researches and advises the Association, its officers, councils, committees and trustees about legislative and regulatory matters affecting the Association and its members.

A native of Meridian, Roberts completed his undergraduate degree in Political Science with a double minor in Biology and Chemistry from Mississippi College.  He furthered his studies at Mississippi State University where he earned his Masters of Public Policy and Administration degree.  Roberts is also a graduate of the United States Chamber of Commerce Institute for Organization Management program.  He is a 2018 recipient of the Mississippi Business Journal’s Health Care Hero award.

An experienced senior level executive, David has successfully led a statewide professional trade association and has over twenty years of experience in legislative advocacy, where he has developed first-class government relations programs and initiatives that advocate industry and profession positions with effective policy analysis and positioning. 

David is married to the former Melynde Young of Ocean Springs and currently resides in Madison. They are the parents of three children: Selah (17), Dave (15) and Clark Anders (11) and attend Highlands Presbyterian Church in Ridgeland.
